About Us

    Sunset Neighborhood is a private not-for-profit organization and sister corporation to The Community at Sunset Wood, a 23-year-old senior residential community in New Hartford, N.Y. We began caring for the elderly as Sunset Home of Utica more than 160 years ago.  Through Sunset Neighborhood, we are extending our services and expertise to the local community.  Sunset Neighborhood is a truly progressive and responsive approach to senior care and is one of the first community programs of its kind in New York State.

Our Team

Carol Jubenville – Executive Director - Rev. Carol Jubenville has been the Executive Director of Sunset Wood Apartments, a senior living community, since 1996.  During her tenure she has been Board President of Mohawk Valley Alzheimers Association, co-founder and President of Leadership Mohawk Valley, President of First Source Federal Credit Union and was the first woman to hold the position of chairperson to the small business council for the Greater Utica Area Chamber of Commerce.

    Carol was appointed by Congressman Sherwood Boehlert to be area's only delegate to attend the 2005 White House Conference on Aging, a conference that is held once every decade. By attending this conference it became clear to her that communities needed to work together to offer more opportunities for senior to 'age in place' at home.

    Rev. Jubenville is associate pastor of the New Hartford United Methodist Church, allowing her to work with the aging population in a holistic way throughout the State of New York as well as within this community. She co-chairs Older Adult Ministry for the North Central United Methodist Conference and will be attending the Symposium on Older Adult Ministry held in Nashville, TN in August 2007.

Nancy Hartmann – Care Manager - Nancy is a native of New Hartford, NY and graduated from Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY with a B.S. degree in Nursing.  She has extensive experience with geriatrics in both the nursing homes and adult day care settings and always brings a great interest in prevention and wellness.  She served on the Board of Directors of the Alzheimers Association, the American Cancer Society and the Community at Sunset Wood, where she was president during the $4 million expansion in 2003.  Nancy is the current Geriatric Care Manager for Sunset Wood and manages the program that provides tenants with advocacy and referral to needed services.

Kevin Prosser – Special Events/Marketing Director – Kevin graduated from SUNY Potsdam in Potsdam, NY with a B.A. in Mathematics and a minor in Business Economics. Currently he is working on his MBA in technology management with a concentration in accounting and finance. Kevin is responsible for special events and marketing at The Community at Sunset Wood as well as marketing for Sunset Neighborhood.
